Re: Clear Channel Broadcasting Licenses, Inc. (CCBL)
WIOD(AM), Miami, Florida
Facility Identification Number: 14242
Special Temporary Authority (STA)
BESTA-20 1 70920AAL
Dear Mr. Walls:
This is in reference to the request filed on September 20, 2017. CCBL requests a
further extension of the STA granted in 1981 as last modified using 10 kW patterns to
overcome Cuban interference.' In support of the request, CCBL states that the interference
continues.
Accordingly, the technical STA granted on September 13, 2017, to operate ND with
reduced power is hereby SUPERSEDED, and the request for extension of STA IS hereby
GRANTED, therefore CCBL may operate with the 10 kW patterns specified in BMML201 70426ACK. It will be necessary to further reduce power or cease operation if
complaints of interference are received. CCBL must use whatever means are necessary to
protect workers and the public from exposure to radio frequency radiation in excess of the
Commissions exposure guidelines. See 47 CFR ยง 1.1310. CCBL must resume licensed
operations if the Cuban interference ceases, or upon official notice from the Commission.
This authority expires on April 19, 2018.
