Re: Yavapai Broadcasting Corporation
KVNA (AM), Flagstaff, Arizona
Facility Identification Number: 68567
Special Temporary Authority
BESTA-20 1 30624ABG
Dear Mr. Campbell:
This is in reference to the request filed June 24, 2013, on behalf of Yavapai Broadcasting
Corporation ("YBC"). YBC requests further extension of the special temporary authority
("STA") granted on December 21, 2012, to operate Station KVNA with emergency antenna
facilities pursuant to Section 73.1680.' In support of the request, YBC states that it has located a
potential site on an existing tower and has reached a verbal agreement. The parties continue to
find a resolution for the engineering issue. Circumstances beyond YBC's control involving the
tower owner and a third party continue to delay finalization of a lease agreement, but appear to
be nearing conclusion.
Requests for extension of STA will be granted only where the licensee can show that one or more
of the following criteria have been met:
Restoration of licensed facilities is complete and testing is underway;
• Substantial progress has been made during the most recent STA period toward
restoration of licensed operation; or
• No progress has been made during the most recent STA period for reasons clearly
beyond the licensees control, and the licensee has taken all possible steps to
expeditiously resolve the problem.

'KVNA is licensed for operation on 600 kHz with 1 kilowatt daytime and 0.048 kilowatt nighttime, employing a nondirectional
antenna.

Our review indicates that the licensee has been prevented from restoring licensed operation due
to causes beyond its control and has taken all possible steps to expeditiously resolve the problem.
Thus, extension of STA is warranted.
Accordingly, the request for STA IS HEREBY GRANTED. Station KVNA may continue to
operate with the following facilities:
Geographic coordinates: 350 13' 43" N, 1110 34' 05' W (NAD 1927)
Frequency: 600kHz
Hours of operation: Unlimited
Operating power: Not to exceed 1 kW daytime, 0.048 kW nighttime
Antenna: Long wire
It will be necessary to reduce power or cease operation if complaints of interference are received.
YBC must notify the Commission when licensed operation is restored.2 YBC must use whatever
means are necessary to protect workers and the public from exposure to radio frequency radiation
in excess of the Commissions exposure guidelines. See 47 CFR § 1.13 10.
This authority expires on December 21, 2013.
Sincerely,

Jimmy Kong, Engineer
